Question 1Fundamentals of AI and ML

A bank's fraud investigators close several hundred cases a week. Every case already carries a decision recorded in the case management system, and the analyst adds rough working notes as they go. The bank wants a managed AWS service that takes those structured case facts together with the analyst's notes and drafts the written case narrative in the bank's house style, where tone and length are adjusted by changing the instruction rather than by retraining a model. Which AWS service meets this requirement?

  1. A.

Amazon Fraud Detector, the fully managed service that trains on the bank's own historical fraud event data and returns a fraud score plus a rule-driven outcome, such as approve or send for review, for each online event that it evaluates.

  2. B.

Amazon Textract, which extracts printed and handwritten text along with forms and tables from scanned documents and returns them to the calling application as structured data.

  3. C.

Amazon Bedrock, which gives managed API access to foundation models, so the case facts and the analyst's notes go into a prompt and the drafted narrative comes back, with style changed by editing the instruction.

  4. D.

Amazon Comprehend, which applies natural language processing to text that already exists in order to detect entities, key phrases, personally identifiable information, dominant language and sentiment.

Answer: C

Only Amazon Bedrock generates new prose from a prompt; the fraud-specific service scores events, and the other three analyse, extract from, or speak text that already exists.

  • A. Amazon Fraud Detector detects potentially fraudulent activity such as unauthorised transactions and fake account creation by scoring events against a model trained on your fraud history. Its output is a score and an outcome, never written prose. AWS also closed it to new customers in November 2025 and points new work at SageMaker, AutoGluon and AWS WAF.
  • B. Amazon Textract lifts printed and handwritten text, forms and tables out of scanned documents. It could digitise a handwritten note as an input step, but it generates no narrative of its own.
  • C. Amazon Bedrock provides managed access to foundation models through an API, which is the only option here capable of generating the narrative text, and prompt instructions control tone and length without retraining.
  • D. Amazon Comprehend extracts insight from documents that already exist, returning entities, key phrases, PII, language and sentiment. It analyses text rather than producing any, so it cannot draft the case narrative.

What's on the exam

5 domains · 14 task statements, straight from the official exam guide (as of Version 1.4 AIF-C01).

  1. 1.1Explain basic AI concepts and terminologies.
    • Define basic AI terms (for example, AI, ML, deep learning, neural networks, computer vision, natural language processing [NLP], model, algorithm, training and inferencing, bias, fairness, fit, large language model [LLM]).
    • Describe the similarities and differences between AI, ML, and deep learning.
    • Describe various types of inferencing (for example, batch, real-time).
    • Describe the different types of data in AI models (for example, labeled and unlabeled, tabular, time-series, image, text, structured and unstructured).
    • Describe supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning.
  2. 1.2Identify practical use cases for AI.
    • Recognize applications where AI/ML can provide value (for example, assist human decision making, solution scalability, automation).
    • Determine when AI/ML solutions are not appropriate (for example, cost-benefit analyses, situations when a specific outcome is needed instead of a prediction).
    • Select the appropriate ML techniques for specific use cases (for example, regression, classification, clustering).
    • Identify examples of real-world AI applications (for example, computer vision, NLP, speech recognition, recommendation systems, fraud detection, forecasting).
    • Explain the capabilities of AWS managed AI/ML services (for example, SageMaker, Amazon Transcribe, Amazon Translate, Amazon Comprehend, Amazon Lex, Amazon Polly).
  3. 1.3Describe the ML development lifecycle.
    • Describe components of an ML pipeline (for example, data collection, exploratory data analysis [EDA], data pre-processing, feature engineering, model training, hyperparameter tuning, evaluation, deployment, monitoring).
    • Understand sources of ML models (for example, open source pre-trained models, training custom models).
    • Describe methods to use a model in production (for example, managed API service, self-hosted API).
    • Identify relevant AWS services and features for each stage of an ML pipeline (for example, SageMaker, Amazon SageMaker Data Wrangler, Amazon SageMaker Feature Store, Amazon SageMaker Model Monitor).
    • Understand fundamental concepts of ML operations (MLOps) (for example, experimentation, repeatable processes, scalable systems, managing technical debt, achieving production readiness, model monitoring, model re-training).
    • Understand model performance metrics (for example, accuracy, Area Under the ROC Curve [AUC], F1 score) and business metrics (for example, cost per user, development costs, customer feedback, return on investment [ROI]) to evaluate ML models.

AIF-C01 practice — frequently asked questions

Are these real AIF-C01 exam questions?

No. Every question on CertifyAIx is original, written by us against Amazon Web Services's publicly available AIF-C01 exam guide to rehearse the skills it lists. None are actual exam questions, and CertifyAIx is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon Web Services.

How many AIF-C01 practice questions are there?

507 practice questions, including 3 full-length timed mock exams and 51 domain papers of up to 25 questions (mixed and by topic). Every question has a detailed explanation of why the right answer wins and why each distractor loses.

Is the content up to date with the current AIF-C01 exam guide?

The questions are written against the AIF-C01 exam guide dated Version 1.4 AIF-C01, and we revise them when Amazon Web Services updates the guide.

What question formats are covered?

The same formats the real AIF-C01 uses: Multiple choice, Multiple response, Ordering, Matching, case study. Each is rendered and graded the way the exam does it.

How long is the AIF-C01 exam and how many questions does it have?

According to Amazon Web Services's published exam details: 65 questions, 90 minutes, passing score 700 / 1000. Our mock exams use the same time limit and question count. Always confirm current details with Amazon Web Services before booking.

Can I practise AIF-C01 for free?
